The Bible Reading League
Present in Switzerland for about a hundred years, the Bible Reading League is active in the areas of camps and weekends, activities, training, publishing, support for migrants, and various artistic events. Its main mission is to help everyone encounter God.
History of Clos des Pierres
Acquisition
Built in 1746, Clos des Pierres is a beautiful chalet nestled in nature, located on the northern slope of the commune of Rougemont, known as Au Revers. It was acquired by the Bible Reading League in 1964. At the time, it was a farm building that was used by its former owner for about ten years after its sale.
Transformations
It was first transformed and fitted out in 1976 for use as a campsite.
Subsequently, in 1993 , a major renovation and expansion project was considered, including the addition of a dining room on the ground floor and a large south-facing terrace. The newly renovated Clos des Pierres was inaugurated on October 1, 1995.
3rd renovation and expansion
In 2005, work was required to resolve wastewater drainage problems. After several years of procedures and investments, the PPA (partial development plan) was approved in 2015.
Later, a new road and parking lot were built, and the building underwent extensive renovations to meet technical and legal standards, including those of the ECA (fire safety authority). The building permit for the renovation was issued in November 2021, and the demolition/reconstruction work actually began in March 2024, finishing in June 2026 .
League camps
Each year, the League organizes around fifty camps for different age groups. A third of these camps take place at Clos des Pierres. Many volunteers participate in the organization, serving as directors, counselors, or cooks. These camps allow children to experience the values of Christian life, to grow, and to discover their faith.
